Take Your Photography Outside the Studio

Join fashion photographer Trevor Brady for a full-day, on-location workshop  focused on capturing compelling fashion and portrait imagery in natural light and urban environments. This is a hands-on, small-group experience (maximum 6 students), designed to help you elevate your technical skills, sharpen your creative instincts, and gain confidence working with professional models on location. 

From styling and composition to managing light and movement outdoors, you’ll learn how to create dynamic images that feel fresh, authentic, and editorial — all while navigating real-world conditions.

What You’ll Learn

• How to find and shape natural light using reflectors, modifiers and strobe light
• How to scout locations and build visual stories within urban environments
• How to work with models and teams on fast-paced, outdoor shoots
• Composition, styling, and storytelling techniques for fashion imagery
• Best practices for gear setup, location safety, and working with available light
• Workflow tips to get your images client- or portfolio-ready

What You’ll Need

• A Digital SLR or Mirrorless camera
• An understanding of basic settings (ISO, shutter speed, aperture, exposure)
• Comfortable shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, and a readiness to move around the city

What to Bring

• Your camera and favourite lens(es) (a 35mm 50mm or 85mm prime is great, but wide options work too)
• Three fashion photography images that inspire you
• A small reflector or diffuser if you have one (optional)
